Anyways, just a recap of the main ideas in chapter 7
1. Solving linear equations:
a) by substitution
b) by elimination
Remember to always solve in terms of z when solving a non-square system!
Example:
x-2y+z=2
2x-y-z=1
Adding -2 times the first equation to the second: 3y-3z= -3
Multiplying the second equation by 1/3 : y-z= -1
Y=z-1
Substitute back x-2(z-1)+z= 2
X=z
Finally, by letting z=a
We get x=a y=a+1
2. Linear programming:
1. Sketch the region corresponding to the system of constraints
2. Find the vertices (one or more vertexes)
3. Test the function at each of the functions and select the maximum/minimum value.
3. Types of Partial fraction:
a) x+7/x^2-x-6= a/x-3 +b/x+2 each partial fraction with a constant numerator
b) x^2+20x+x/x(x+1)^2= a/x +b/x+1 +c/(x+1)^2
remember to include each partial fraction with a constant numerator for EACH power of x and x+1
c) x^2+4x+4/ x^3-x^2+2x-2 = a/x+1 + bx+c/ x^2+2
When one denominator cannot be divided further, use a linear numerator
READY FOR THE TEST TMR?
Hey Sharon, I found this real helpful. I wish I saw this before the test. Hope you did well in the test :)
ReplyDeleteHi, Sharon, This is one of the best review post I saw today. It really talked about every aspects the section and really helped me a lot, thank you so much!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the great post Sharon. I used this while studying for the test and I think that you did a really good job of explaining the information. Between your and William's post, I felt really confident on the math test.
